Sky Fest 2020 Canceled Due to Pandemic
Participants' rights will be valid for the next year’s planned Fest
The Sky Fest which was organized by the TÜBİTAK National Observatory (TUG) for 22 years and planned to be held in Saklıkent, 2000 meters high, close to the TUG Bakırlıtepe Campus, has been canceled with worrying that it will increase the risk factor, because of collective activities within the scope of Covid-19 epidemic measures.
By lottery, the rights of the participants who have the chance to attend the Sky Fest will be reserved for the next festival, which is planned to be held next year (2021).
The TÜBİTAK National Sky Fest was organized for the first time in 2019 under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, with the number of participants more than 4 times higher than previous years and a thousand participants.
TÜBİTAK National Sky Fest, the most comprehensive sky festivities of Turkey, would be hosted for the first time international exhibitors in 2020.
We hope that all astronomy enthusiasts will tolerantly understand this precaution taken to protect public health. We hope to meet at the next Sky Fest.
