The first GRB at T60 robotic telescope

The new follow-up software at T60 robotic telescope at TUG was developed by  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Sonbaş, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tolga Güver and Prof. Dr. Ersin Göğüş (PI of 112T227 TÜBİTAK Project) with the contribution of Murat Dindar and Murat Parmaksızoğlu from TUG.

T60 robotic telescope did the first GRB observation by getting connected directly to GCN/TAN system of NASA. The source was observed after 129 s. when the burst began, which meant that Ultraviolet Optical Telescope (UVOT) detecting the burst on the SWIFT satellite pointed the source approximately 5 min. earlier. T60 robotic telescope, which is 60 cm in diameter, doing the observation in an earlier phase is important to understand the nature of this kind of events and it should be considered as a great success of the robotic telescope studies at TUG. The following figure shows the GRB taken by T60 and DSS from archive as comparison.
